The manual station relocator is designed to lower the height of a fire alarm pull station to meet ada requirements.
Fire alarm pull station height ada.
The ada provides two ways to make operable parts accessible to wheelchair users.
The ada does not require a fire alarm system.
The pull lever cannot require tight grasping pinching or twisting of the wrist.
The relocator lowers the height without the need for pulling new wires and moving the existing electric box.
In a forward reach the wheelchair user approaches the object head on.
In addition the pull lever.
Fire alarm pulls must meet the following requirements for operable parts.
Nfpa 72 standards state that the operable part of the pull station shall be between 3 1 3 ft and 4 1 2 ft.
Nfpa 72 the national fire alarm and signalling code requires the operating switch of manual pull stations to be located between 42 and 48 inches from the floor.
To the best of my knowledge ada says to follow nfpa 72 standards.
Requirements for fire alarm systems.
The force to activate the pull lever cannot be greater than five pounds.
The pull lever must be operable with one hand.
Most existing pull stations are mounted 60 inches 1524 mm or higher above the floor.
